TALK TO ME
Sound & Light Interactive Installation
by LNLO [helen eastwood & laurent brun]
A row of lit-up door-like arches are set out in public space.
2 microphones await, 1 at each end of the artwork.
Visitors are invited to talk to each other via the installation.
Dialogue begins. Voices turn into colorful light travelling from side to side, words are distorted. Each message becomes an enigmatic mix of lights and sounds. Meaning is blurred on the way.
How intelligible can we be, and what of our mutual understanding and intimacy when social distance, screens and further restrictions force separation upon us?
How accurately can Technology render our feelings in contactless relationships?
And is it truly supporting freedom of speech, or cunningly interfering?
